Olivia's Story...
Olivia is a one year old Flat Coated Retriever. She was turned into a shelter with her buddy, Daphne by their owner. There was no reason given for the surrender and the owners didn't even give their names. She is a beautiful dog with a friendly, sweet personality. She is good on a leash and enjoys riding in the car. They can be adopted together but don't appear to be a truly bonded pair so it isn't required. As too often happens with our orphans, during the wellness checks Olivia was found to be heartworm positive. The treatments will take approximately 30 days and then she will be available for adoption. Please consider donating to her medical fund if you are unable to adopt! We are a nonprofit and the treatments are quite expensive. See her at www.adoptagoldenbirmingham.com or call 205-908-1566 or email ashawrn@gmail.com.

Olivia, a BIRMINGHAM Flat-Coated Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Flat-Coated Retriever for sale in BIRMINGHAM, or seeking a Flat-Coated Retriever dog from a breeder in BIRMINGHAM.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in BIRMINGHAM already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a BIRMINGHAM breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Flat-Coated Retriever breeders who help with Flat-Coated Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in BIRMINGHAM paves the way for another one to be saved.
