Mata Hairy's Story...
Mata Hairy is a stunner rescued from a kill shelter in Brooklyn. she was brought to the shelter having been trapped in someone's backyard. While she certainly is not a feral or even a street cat, she is very shy and needs time to learn to trust her human. But once she does, you are rewarded with melodious purrs and very enthusiastic cuddling sessions.

Mata Hairy is about 2 years old, plump, beautiful and gentle. Her Rubenesque shape, short tail and paws points to her roots in British shorthair kitties but she is a rescued cat of unknown lineage so if you are looking for a cat with a British accent - it ain't Mata Hairy. But she certainly looks the role.

Mata Hairy is gentle but shy and she will appreciate a quiet home and patient and cat loving humans. She is fine with other cats.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mata Hairy, a Brooklyn British Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a British Shorthair for sale in Brooklyn, or seeking a British Shorthair cat from a breeder in Brooklyn.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brooklyn already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brooklyn breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even British Shorthair breeders who help with British Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brooklyn paves the way for another one to be saved.
