Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Beau (Blind) - Beau's owner has to move to a new apartment and can bring just one pet, and the pet must be under 25 pounds, so he cannot bring Beau. The owner has contacted everyone he can think of to find a new home for his dog with no luck. Beau is an indoor dog with the run of the house. He is housebroken and leash trained and knows many commands, including: come, are you hungry, come this way, treat, big bed, sit and no. He is healthy; he does have a small lump on the right side of his face but the owner said the vet believes it is non-cancerous. Beau is an outgoing dog who is good with people of all ages and also dogs, male and female. His owner thinks, because Beau is a laid back kind of dog, that he would also be able to get along with cats (but he doesn't know for sure). Beau is not possessive of treats, toys or food, and has never bitten or snapped. In fact, his owner says that Beau "has been a wonderful companion, easy to care for, and loved by visitors and family.
Beau is up to date on his shots and is on heart worm preventative each month, year round. He is neutered. He was sent to an ophthalmologist and it was determined he is totally blind although no one knows the reason. He has a slight head tilt (vestibular syndrome) but is "quite independent" and his health is good. He weights 37 pounds. Beau has lived his life with his sister, Mae, and might miss her when separated from her.
Contact Mindy at mmiller@beaglebuddies.org to obtain an application. Submit the application form and we will schedule a time to meet the pet. If interested in adopting we require a home visit and an adoption agreement with a fee. Beagles over 5 years of age have an adoption of $100 and if younger than 5 years the fee is $125. All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption, are up to date on vaccinations, and a copy of vet records is provided upon adoption to set up a file at your vet. We supply collar, temporary ID tag until you can use till you get one, and leash. All beagles are micro-chipped as well.
