My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

One of the meanings of the name Amelia is work or striving and our delicate flower Amelia sure fits that description She is striving to be a happy dog again. After her owner died and no one left to care for her she was taken to the pound. Depressed, weighing only half of what she should, upper respiratory infection along with other aliments, Amelia had all but given up on life. Thank goodness for Rescue and the loving care of the volunteers who did not give up on her. After several weeks in foster care and good medication and food, Amelia is starting to show signs of life, has started to put some weight on and is wanting to continue on. She is making slow strides in her foster home and still has a long road to travel to be the happy healthy girl we know she can be again. She gets excited now when her foster parents return home, doing a happy dance and wagging that cute little nub of a tail she has. She doesn't interact with the other cats and dogs in her foster home but prefers to sit back and observe the goings on around her. She seems a bit interested in squeaker toys and nyla bones but again not sure what to do with them. Amelia is the perfect house guest, totally house trained never gets into anything while her parents are gone and is good on car rides. She is still unsure of noises or quick movements and isn't comfortable exploring around the house by herself so she will need time and patience from her new family until she is sure of what is expected of her and how she fits into her new home. The perfect home for our girl would be one that is low key and quiet. She probably would prefer being the only dog but could live with another low key quiet dog or cat. Someone that has the time and patience to give Amelia the space and love she needs to continue to grow is a must. Someone that can see the small steps taken for what they can lead too and is able to look into Amelias eyes and see the potential this wonderful girl has. Are you the person to help Amelia reach the next chapter in her life? Take a minute and look into her eyes, she is in there just waiting for you to take a chance on her.
