Trixie's Story...
Trixie is a female mix approx 16 weeks old as of the end of February. She currently weighs 15 lbs so will probably be 35-40 pounds as an adult, maybe less. She is one of a Mamba's litter of 5 found in the 5th Ward under a house. She is sweet, playful and very happy. She loves everyone, other dogs and is good with cats too. Trixie is up to date on shots and will be spayed this week. She was hit by a car before rescue and had both back legs broken but the specialist does not feel that she needs surgery. They have healed up great and that never slowed her down a bit! She loves snuggling with her foster mom and loves the dog park. She is leash trained and partially house broken already. She is super smart!

If you are interested in meeting Trixie please fill out an adoption application online at or contact her foster mom at Thanks.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trixie, a Porter Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever for sale in Porter, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Porter.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Porter already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Porter breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Porter paves the way for another one to be saved.
