My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Isabelle is a 5 year old miniature Poodle who will provide maximum enjoyment and love to the family who adopts her. She is the sweetest and happiest little girl whose tail never stops wagging. She is 11 pounds of pure joy and greets everyone she meets with an "Izzy" kiss and a wagging tail. Her beautiful brown eyes just melt your heart when she looks at you.

Here is what else her foster mom had to say:

Isabelle loves to be near her people as often as possible and will follow me everywhere I go in the house. She really loves to be the centre of attention and especially loves her belly rubs. She is the true definition of a lap dog and is most content when she is curled up in my lap or cuddling beside me on the couch. Isabelle is not really interested in chew toys, bones or chasing a ball, she much more interested in just being with her people.

Isabelle is healthy, happy and full of energy. She is well behaved in the house and has never tried to steal food and does not beg for food when I am eating. She is too small to counter surf and hasn't even attempted to try to take anything off the coffee table. She has not chewed anything that she shouldn't and she doesn't have any interest in chewing anything but her food or soft treats.

Isabelle will always come when called whether in the house or in the yard. I do not have to call her to come very often as she rarely strays from my side. She has learned to sit for treats and will also stand on her hind legs with her paws in the air and dance around for a treat. Isabelle has a tendency to want to jump up on people and is learning to stay down when told. She just is so excited to meet people or to greet me when I come home from work that she automatically jumps up to get to me so she can give me a kiss and so that I will pet her. I have not had to teach Isabelle to "drop it" as she has never had anything in her mouth that she shouldn't have.

Isabelle is on her way to being house trained. She does know to do her business when we go outside but being a little dog she has a little bladder so she needs to be taken outside more frequently during the day and may not be a good choice for someone that works long hours unless they were willing to train her to use pee-pads. I have not used a crate for Isabelle as she is well behaved and is not destructive in any way. She likes to sleep in the bed with me and sleeps through the night without making a peep. She jumps up on the bed and snuggles in beside me under the covers.

Isabelle is very good on a leash and there are no issues with her when we go for a walk. She does not pull on the leash and walks nicely, actually she prances along nicely and is very easy to walk due to her small stature. She has never tried to escape from the yard. She basically will go out to do her business, sniff around a bit and then wants to come inside for her treat. She does not try to bolt out the door but does want to come with me when I leave for work so she follows me to the door but will sit and stay when I tell her. She got out the door the first day I had her but came right back inside when I called her. She is very good when riding in the car. She loves to look out the window and then when she has seen enough, she will lay down and fall asleep.

Isabelle is very friendly with everyone she meets including men, women and children. She is happy to meet anyone who will pet her and give her affection. She met alot of children, both young and older at Pet Valu and she was very well behaved while they petted her. She has not shown any signs of aggression since coming into my home and the only time she has barked is when a group of people walked by the house.

Isabelle has been fine with my cat and rarely even pays attention to the cat other than sniffing her or watching the cat walk by. She is also well behaved around other dogs and was happy to meet quite a few of them when we visited Pet Valu. She seems a bit intimidated by a couple of the bigger dogs but all in all she was well behaved.

Isabelle does not bark or whine when I leave the house and has not shown any signs of destructive behaviour. She will jump up on the bed and watch me from the window and when I come home, she is at the window waiting for me. She does not seem to have a fear of loud noises and passing cars do not bother her. She is not skittish in any way and is quite the confident little dog.

Isabelle loves attention and belly rubs. She will wrap her tiny paws around my hand as if to say don't stop rubbing my belly! She likes to be wherever I am and will follow me all over the house whether I am cooking, cleaning or do laundry. She likes to go for car rides and enjoys sitting in the front seat looking out the window. She is not a big eater so food is not one of her favourite things but she does love her treats. Isabelle does not shed at all. She was recently groomed so her coat is short except for a cute tuft of fur on top of her head. She will require regular grooming as her fur grows in.
She is non-shedding.

Isabelle is quiet in the home and outside of the house. She almost never barks and has only barked once since she has been with me which occurred when a group of people walked by the house.

Isabelle is a sweet little dog who is happy to greet anyone she meets however I feel that due to her small size, she would best be suited for an adult family as small children may play too rough with her. A retired, semi-retired or work from home couple or single person would be the ideal family for Isabelle as she loves to be around people as often as possible and would be happiest if she was not left alone for long periods of time. Isabelle is quiet so an apartment setting would be okay as long as she was taken outside every few hours to do her business. A house with a fully fenced in yard would be a great home for Isabelle as well.

If you would like to make this little girl part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
