I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.
Ashton is a shy, classic tri-colored beagle boy. He is about two years old, neutered, micro-chipped and heart worm negative. He was found as a stray and was not claimed by his owners. HBHR was contacted by the vet tech who found him and asked us to find a home for this very special beagle.
When Ashton comes into a new home, he will be very quiet and timid. His early life has taught him that people, especially men, are something to be afraid of and may hit you at any time. In his foster home, Ashton has made outstanding progress and that has a lot to do with the level of patience and understanding he is receiving and the fact that he has dog friends that are confident. He draws tremendous strength from his beagle friends and learns from them that things can be okay. It is very important that anyone wanting to adopt Ashton be experienced with rescue dogs and has the love and patience to give him the chance he deserves. His foster mom sees progress every day and his new family will see it too.
Ashton has never had to be kenneled when his foster mom is gone. He seldom barks, has never been destructive and is perfectly house-trained. His relationship with the other beagles is fantastic and he is the perfect companion for them. He LOVES to play chase and wrestle.
This handsome beagle was pretty overweight when he came in and needs a family that is going to watch his food intake and make sure that he gets plenty of good exercise. Right now he's about 35 lbs. but should be between about 30 lbs. to be at a healthy weight and he is about 15" tall.

We are a small group of volunteers in the Houston, TX area who foster rescued beagles in our own private homes. We have no shelter facility. The first step in our adoption process is for interested parties to complete the on-line adoption application found on our website, www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org, and then we will contact you regarding meeting the dogs.

We typically have meet & greet events on the second Sunday of each month, from around noon to 3:30 p.m. We will always bring several of the rescued beagles to that event, so look up the location of the month on our website, and come meet some adorable beagles!
The first step in our adoption process is for interested parties to complete the on-line adoption application found on our website. We require an adoption fee ($225 for purebred beagles; $250 for pups age 8 mo. or younger; $175 for seniors 8 yrs +, beagle mixes, & special needs dogs) and an adoption contract. ALL dogs will be vaccinated and spayed/neutered before adoption!
