My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tigger Two is about two years old. He is good with other dogs (Trumbull allows us to socialize the dogs with each other so we actually know how they interact with other dogs). He may not be the best match for a home with a male dog that will challenge him - that is very true with most dogs. They must be paired together so that their personalities compliment each other rather than compete (just like human relationships). I wish petfinder had a designation called "bully breed dog" rather than trying to really describe what breed of dog some of these dogs are. Really, there is some pit in him, but it could also be boxer, mastiff, dane or any of other other bully mixes that include a brindle coat. There is no way to tell other than a DNA sample. What I try to do is frame the dogs into catagories that match their ability to work with others. Commonly the public expects pit bulls to be anti-social fighting dogs. They are not by nature that way, but tend to love their owners so much, they will adopt that personality if asked to do so. Tigger is a dog that could love his owner enough to be bad or good. That is the level of loyalty he would give. So, if you are a responsible pet owner (and I expect if you are still reading this, you are), you are willing to give kindness to this dog - you will get back all you give and more. He will do what you ask so long as you make it clear to him what you expect. If you have another dog, we will have to see how the chemistry is. Tigger can be walked by other dogs and cats. He likes to play with his ball and tug on a rope. I am not sure how he would be with small children, but is great with the kids that stop by the kennel. If you would like to meet Tigger, please stop by the Trumbull Animal Shelter, 325 Church Hill Road, Trumbull, CT. The kennel is open Monday through Saturday from 10-3:30 and Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 6-9. We can also accomodate you by appointment. The nice thing about the Trumbull Animal Shelter is that we are allowed to socialize the dogs with each other. That way, when we tell you the dogs are good with other dogs, you can be assured we have tested them first. See the photo with Ralph? That is Tigger Two in the photo with three other dogs. Ralph is a canine behavioralist that is the BEST at introducing new dogs. If you have a dog already, Ralph will help you to ensure a nice match for both dogs. Now, how many shelters offer that service! Very few. Just an extra piece of mind to help you in the selection of your new pet.
