Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Now I have my own facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/firkin.mcconnell
Firkin is a gorgeous two year old shepherd mix who is about 62 lbs. She is an energetic girl who loves to play ball, Frisbee and fetch with anything you are willing to throw. She knows a lot of commands - bring it, put it down, find it, sit, down, off, paw, other paw, stay, back up, wait, leave it, cookies, all done, and more! She is treat motivated and loves everything from carrots to dog biscuits! She is house-trained, crate-trained and sleeps next to her owners' bed at night. She likes tennis balls, Frisbees, bones and durable chew toys but will "de-squeaker" typical squeaky toys with precision. She gives sweet kisses and will curl up next to you on the couch for petting and belly rubs.
Firkin is an exuberant girl and will need a family to continue her training - she's been working on not jumping to greet people, and is doing very well. She is used to an enormous fenced yard and this would be helpful to help with expending energy. She is great at announcing the arrival of visitors and will settle down with the commands "quiet" and "enough" after she has done her job. She is very good with boy dogs and still plays like a pup.
Firkin is a local dog who is being surrendered because she has challenges with another female dog in her home. She is working hard on being more polite when meeting other dogs. She has a best bud who is a male Aussie who can match her energy level and play style. Firkin would likely be too much for cats, small animals, or young children. She gets too excited with small kids and tries to play a bit too rough for them, as if they were another dog, barking, pushing and knocking them over, and she will chase them if they run around her. She does fine with older children, is respectful of their authority, and loves to play fetch with them.
Firkin loves people and would love an active home where she is stimulated physically and intellectually so she does not get bored. She is healthy sweet girl who is ready for a home that will love her and continue to work with her.
