My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rosie is a wonderful fur ball of pure love. She has such an exhuberence for life, so happy and spirited. You can't help but smile in her presence. She loves everyone and everything and lives to express that! There is not a mean spirited bone in her body. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves human contact, always wanting to be close to people and give kisses and show them her love. Rosie is still a puppy approximately 8 - 10 months old and weighs 33 lbs.

Rosie lives for play time, she can't wait to get outside to play by herself in the snow, to play catch with her ball, to play tug of war with her chew toys, or, on a lucky occasion to play with another friendly pup she comes in contact with. She is over all a truly wonderful companion and has been an absolute pleasure to have around!

Rosie is very healthy, she is active and fit, eats regularly, is constantly hydrating, and has a very regular washroom break schedule. She loves to constantly have a chew toy in her mouth, or a ball, which keeps her occupied and differs her from chewing things she shouldn't. If she hasn't had enough play time she will be drawn to your hands with some light nibbling to get your attention and to get you to play with her. She is by no means a biter, not even with other dogs. She would never intentionally show any form of aggression, although sometimes she doesn't realize how big she is and that her paws do have nails attached. She is very curious about human food, and will get close and watch, hoping she may get some, but she does not paw for it or whine and she does not get into anything in the kitchen.

Rosie could definitely benefit from some training. I have been working with her on sit, stay, down and bed. She is slowly learning them but it will take some patience on part of her new parents to continue to work with her on her puppy manners in order for her to reach her full potential as a well-behaved companion. She would not do well with strict obedience training, I would hope that she would be able to be trained on her basic commands while not being kept too strict that her natural exuberance and good spirited nature would be diminished.

She is fully house trained, we have not had a single accident. She also is quick to take care of her business once she is outside, she get's the serious stuff out of the way right away in order to get on with her more important play time!

Rosie is crate trained, she has no problem with being in her bed, she does not go to her bed on her own, she needs to be guided into it, but she will not resist. She calms herself, and does not bark or cry. She goes in her bed while I am at work and through the night. She is fine being crated for regular work hours, as long as she is getting the outside time and adequate play time she needs during the other hours of the day. She has been left out of her crate while I have been away from home and has been fine, she doesn't bark or get into garbage or cause messes. She could definitely be left out of the crate as long as she has her toys to keep her occupied.

Although she doesn't mind her leash, she likes to be in charge during her walk and she does pull a lot. She is just so excited and desperately wants to run. She could use some training in this area. She would do very well with being brought to a dog park everyday so she gets that off leash time to play catch and play with other dogs and run off some steam. A home with a yard would be her dream come true, but yard or not she also enjoys walks so as long as she is getting her outside time daily she will be a happy pup. She likes to get in front of other people on her walk, she just loves people, and wants to greet everyone, and wants them to stop and give her attention, not always realizing that some people don't want to be stopped.

Rosie is absolutely friendly with everyone, she loves dogs. She would do very well in a house with another canine companion. I am not sure how she does with cats, although I can't imagine there would be an issue, she has not shown any aggression towards birds or squirrels so I believe that she would be fine with a cat. She would also love children to play with that have the same energy level she does. I have not seen her interaction with children, she is always drawn to them on our walks, but she may need to learn that she is a big girl, which would affect how she interacts with particularly smaller children.

Rosie is looking for a home that will enjoy and encourage her friendly and happy nature. She is still learning and growing, and with some patience and devotion in terms of basic command training she will be an absolute gem. A home with lot's of people around and another dog to play with and she will thrive. She has so much potential and so much love to give and is looking for people to share that love with, and love her in return.

If you think Rosie would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
