My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Joey and I am a Chihuahua.
I was left at the shelter in San Bernadino, CA and they were going to take me directly from the lobby to “The Room”. I heard you don’t come back from “The Room” but some nice shelter people talked to the Rescued for Life people and I ended up in Colorado. I’m not sure why
the people who had me for five years left me at the shelter; maybe it’s because my
back legs don’t work very well. But I don’t let little things like that stop me; I just scoot around dragging them behind me. The Rescue people say I need something called a “wheelchair”, then I could zip around and show everyone what a special little boy I really am. I heard I
need something called “sponsors” to donate to a fund so a wheelchair can be bought for me and then I need a really special person to call my own. I would love to have a forever home so I can
show everyone what a sweet, affectionate boy I can be. I am so happy when someone pets and cuddles me and I have faith the right person will realize a little effort is worth the rewards of having me there to greet them every day. I have never spent one minute feeling sorry for myself and I do what it takes to get to someone for cuddles, but getting around would be so much easier with a wheelchair and I could learn to play fetch like all the other kids.
