My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated June 2013

Carmel has been with us for about a month now and has begun to settle in. We mostly foster mill dogs in our home and she defiantly does not fit the norm. Most mill dogs are very quiet and reserved and spend a lot of time alone. Carmel is far from that stereotype. She loves people and attention. She actually gets quite anxious when she is alone. She is for sure a lap dog. She loves being on the couch and curled up with someone.

As noted above she is 9 years old and does have an accident from time to time in the house. We keep her on a pretty tight schedule and take her out on a regular basis and this seems to help. I think that she goes in the house when she gets mad at us. I think it’s her way of retaliating. J

Ideally she will need to be in a home where someone is home most of the day. I think she would be a perfect fit for an older person or couple. You can leave her for a few hours a day to do shopping, run errands, etc. (We tend to leave her on Saturday for longer periods of time and she does fine.)

We have several dogs in our home and use kennels daily. Carmel has her own kennel where see eats (morning and night) and sleeps. She does not like to sleep alone – we keep her kennel in our bedroom in the corner and she loves it – she just wants to be with people.

She really does well with other dogs but I do think she would like to be the only “child” so she could have all the attention. She also does quite well with kids.

She is a small mini – at the last visit to the vet she weighed 12 pounds. She is almost half the size as our other minis.

She has so much spunk and energy for an older dog and really would be a great dog to have. She was a bit challenging for us in the beginning but once we got her acclimated to our home she really has come full circle and we are really starting to see some great improvements!

Carmel was transferred to us from a shelter after she was surrendered by her owners who had purchased her just the month before from a breeder. She is 9 years old but don't let her fool you, this little girl is a spunky old lady. She is current on her shots, spayed, had her teeth cleaned and microchipped. She is in her foster home learning basic manners and once we know her better, we will update her profile.
