RabbitEARS participates in the bay area rescue community, working in chorus with shelters and other rescues on "Eleventh Hour" animals that can no longer stay at municipal shelters.
Given the nature of this work, we generally cannot accept private rescues.

Our Adoption Process...
Our adoption process is a little different depending on the type of animal being adopted. The first step is always coming in, looking at and interacting with the animal we have available. Then one of our knowledgeable volunteers will discuss proper animal care, proper set up and make sure the animal would be a good fit for your family. We don't do same day adoptions, meaning we will send you home with a detailed care package to discuss with everyone involved that this is a commitment you want to make. If everyone agrees, we encourage you to come back the following day and meet with Judy Hardin, the owner and main adoption coordinator to finalize the adoption.
Thank You! Your message has been sent to RabbitEars Rescue.
You'll receive a copy, too, at
to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter!
Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures,
on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
