My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Val is a very sweet but sensitive young girl. She is friendly with everyone and very loving and loyal. She is low energy in the home and would do well in just about any situation as long as she got her daily exercise. She is approximately 1 - 2 years old with a lovely black glossy coat that sheds very little. She currently weighs just over 30 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Val is the best dog I have ever had the honour of looking after. When I come home from school, she is already at the front door wagging her tail with excitement. She cries of joy that you have come back to her. It is the sweetest thing ever. She is very calm and affectionate towards people of all ages and wouldn’t even dream of hurting a soul. Val has overcome many dire obstacles in her previous living situation hence her mediocre anxiety of loud noises and sudden movements.

Val needs a calm owner who will attend to her affectionate nature. Val has definitely come into her own since coming to stay with us. Her once dull coat is now has a beautiful glossy shine. She prances and glides when she walks or runs. The appearance of bones are very much minimized and she quickly warmed up to her foster family resulting in her tail fully blooming out from in between her legs.

Val is an angel. She is completely house trained. She doesn’t even think about picking up anything without it being given to her. I can leave my food on the coffee table and she wouldn’t ever have the thought of smuggling it. Val hangs around the back door when she needs to let go of her ‘duties’. Val knows the basic commands sit and come here. We are currently teaching her “stay”. There is no need to ever worry about her running off as she always comes to your call. Taking Val on walks has never been a problem. She is partially leash trained, and eager to meet other doggy friends. Overall, Val is an ideal dog.

Val is a low shedding, low energy dog. She is a slow warmer to others of her kind. When she does warm up, she is super playful. She enjoys sprinting, chasing and playing with other dogs in the dog park. Val is the quietest dog you will ever come across. We nicked named her Calypso (Greek Goddess of Silence): another name she responds to.

Val shows fear when she comes across males. Whether it be their presence or their deep voices. When they get near, she tucks in her tail and glides away from them keeping alert of their where abouts. Although she is frightened, she is very curious and lingers around them until she slowly warms up to them. Val is also very frightened of loud noises and sudden movements.

Val has stolen my heart from me since day one. When it comes to the one she loves most, she follows you everywhere, sleeps with you, waits for you and goes with your flow. She is the perfect companion.

If you think Val would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
