My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you're hoping to add somebody new to your family who is fun, adorable, snuggly, and gorgeous, you might want to consider meeting Clinton, our special 4 month old puppy who looks likes like she may be part border collie, part "just plain cute". For a puppy her age, Clinton is incredibly mellow, although you can definitely count her in if there's playing and goofing around involved. We recently moved Clinton from Wilmette Pet Center to a new foster home so we could learn more about her.

Clinton is very sweet and is gaining confidence every day. While she needs occasional reassurance and likes to follow her human from room to room, she is blossoming before our very eyes. She gets along fine with the adults, teenagers, and 2 other foster dogs in the house and even looks to her canine sisters for direction and mentoring. If not kept in check, Clinton has the potential to be a tad growly when she is unsure of noises or the intent of approaching people, but she has responded incredibly well to correction, and we expect that behavioral issue to be tweaked in no time. Because Clinton needs to understand that she can count on her human leaders to protect her and that she doesn't have to worry about fending for herself. she would thrive best with a dog savvy family who will commit to taking a leadership role in her training.

Clinton appears to be mostly house-broken, although she is still perfecting her skills. She sleeps soundly all night, and she is totally respectful of the house. So far, she has been left alone for a couple of hours at a time and, although she is crate-trained, it has been unnecessary- no wetting or chewing at all! She walks beautifully on a leash (and would make a great walking partner -she loves to go on 3 mile hikes) and is ready for puppy obedience school. She is also ready for a family to call her own, and - as with any new puppy - one who will take the necessary steps to implement the guidance and structure she needs into her life.

Clinton currently weighs about 21 pounds, and we predict that her ultimate size will be between 40-50 pounds. However, because it's uncertain, she needs to be adopted by someone willing to take pot luck in terms of her breed and how big she grows. Since she's still young and needs a lot of attention and direction, she needs a family where someone is home part or all day to reinforce her potty-training as well as keep her exercised and socialized.

Clinton's adoption fee of $325 includes: vet exam, distemper combo vaccination, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, flea & tick preventative, deworming, microchip and spay.
