My story

Peluche, a black and white, parti-color, poodle mix (and we think the mix may be Havanese) is around 2 years old, weighs about 16 – 17 pounds and has loads of charm and personality. He is super friendly, super playful and super smart. He quickly learned how to sit and lay down. Peluche rides very well in the car and loves to go for walks on a leash, but he does still pull on the leash at times when he gets excited. Peluche gets along well with other dogs and will do best in a home where he has another dog for a buddy. He has been neutered, brought up to date on shots and is on monthly Ivermectin based heartworm prevention as well as flea & tick prevention. Due to the neglect he suffered prior to rescue, he tested positive for heartworms when we took him into our program. We have had 100% excellent results using a conservative Ivermectin based protocol for handling heartworm positive dogs that are asymptomatic like Peluche. He will test negative in 1 to 2 years. He is simply being given monthly Ivermectin based heartworm prevention which we give anyway and he has never missed a beat.
