My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gretchen is friendly, energetic and sweet. She loves to play and knows how to cuddle. Would be great around older children (7+) as she can be jumpy and defensive. We have been working to reinforce her basic commands and she is doing great. She is very smart. She loves to play outside with us and allegedly loves to be in water- it has been too cold to allow it since she came to us! Gretchen is a people person and is not interested in being outside alone except to go to the bathroom. She is able to be in the kitchen with her dog bed when we are not home and she does very well. The few times we had her on leash she did very well. She stayed to my right and did not pull excessively. She did bark at passing dogs, but I was able to pull her on. We have a fenced area and also several acres unfenced. She does well in both, and if there's a tennis ball involved, she consistently comes back, otherwise, she seems inclined to explore and return at her convenience! The treats in my pocket cannot compare to the exotic and interesting smells in the yard! Gretchen came from a multi-dog family, but has not been okay with the female dogs she has encountered. She seems okay with males. She is TOO interested in cats to live with them, I think. Gretchen is current on all vaccines including Bordatella and is on Heartguard monthly. She is not microchipped. Gretchen would be happy to get up early, but is willing to sleep in when we are able! Huge bonus! Gretchen has arthritis in her left hip, (we give her Rymadil as needed- usually 1/2 pill a day).
