Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Mickey Rooney. I'm a handsome 2-year-old flashy brindle boy who is very happy to be rescued. See, my previous owners kept me outside in a small kennel with no shelter, food, or water. I weighed just 47 pounds when I left there, but I've already gained 15 pounds in my new foster home. And I now have two human kids to play with as well as two furry foster sisters. We all get along really well.
There are many new things I’m learning in my new foster home - like going “potty” outside and sleeping in my very own crate, but if I'm not in it, you don't have to worry, cause I don't destroy things – even if I'm left alone. Mom says I’m a great dog. I love snuggling, but I also like going on walks. I like meeting new people and am learning how to behave like a gentleman when I greet them. I will sit nicely for a treat and am becoming a very well-mannered boy.
After I gained a little weight, I had surgery on my eye to correct a “cherry eye.” That was no big deal, but they also found out I have Progressive Retinal Atrophy, or "PRA" for short. This means that I will eventually lose my vision completely. Consequently, the doctor and the nice people at GOBR say I should be placed in a home that has another dog who will be my buddy and help me feel more comfortable with my surroundings. Don't feel sorry for me though, you can hardly tell that most of my vision is already gone. Because of that, I'm already learning to adapt. I still play with my foster sisters and have a grand old time here with them and my human foster family. So I hope you will think about filling out an app and welcoming me into your home. I'm a great guy with lots of love and life to give! I'm UTD on shots, heartworm negative, and neutered.
