Mimi's Story...
Mimi is a young girl, three years or less, house trained, other dog and cat friendly. She is still in training to not be a grump. She takes some time to warm up to people, but once she knows she can trust you, she is a total love bug. Because she is a true Chihuahua, we are looking for an adopter experienced with the temperamental Chihuahua breed.

ARF'N primarily adopts only to residents in the counties surrounding Hernando County in central Florida or within a 60-90 min. drive from the Brooksville/Spring Hill areas. The reason for this is that we personally conduct home visits for each of our rescued pets to ensure they are getting a safe home.

The application can be found here: http://www.arfn.org/adoption-application/

Email questions to: info@arfn.org. We do not have a phone number to reach us.

Our adoption fees for dogs range between $150 and $250. All of our pets come completely vetted (spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm tested, on heart worm prevention, and a microchip).

ARF'N is a rescue operated by volunteers with full-time professional jobs during the day. We can't always get back to you immediately. Most of our rescue work happens in the evenings and on the weekends. It can typically take up to two weeks to go from application to adoption. More time is required for pets with multiple applications. We do not adopt on a first come, first served basis. We find the best match between pet and adopter. Please be patient with us through this process.

About Animal Rescue Friends Network Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Hernando County Animal Control's Friends is a group volunteers who network the animals at the shelter to improve the adoption rates. We do not work for or at the shelter. Our goal is to provide the public with more access and information about the shelter and the animals who are housed there. We take pictures of the animals, advocate for their well-being, generate publicity fo them, and offer anecdotes we have about some of the animals.

As a rescue group, we are Animal Rescue Friends Network Inc. We primarily rescue animals from Hernando County Animal Services and other local shelters to save their lives and find them forever homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our rescue is a foster home based rescue. Please contact us if you are interested in meeting one of our animals. We can either start the application process, or tell you the next location we will be for an adoption event. You may meet some of the animals available for adoption there before starting the application process.

Our Adoption Process...

Our fees are kept as low as possible to get animals vetted and re-homed into loving families as quickly as possible. We require an application. Once the application is approved, we perform a vet verification to make sure your pets are spayed/neutered, current on core vaccinations, and your other dogs are on heartworm preventative. We also confirm home ownership or a landlord approval. Finally, we do a home visit/meet and greet with the animal in your home. Once the home visit is approved you will be offered an adoption contract.
