Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi I'm Melvin, which is an Irish name meaning "chief." Ha! I wish I were a chief. Then I wouldn't be here at the shelter waiting for a new home. But I am and like a true chief, I remain hopeful for my future. I am middle age, as any good chief should be. I am wise and knowing but still playful and open to new possibilities.
I was brought to the MaxFund after a woman in Bennett said I was being mistreated by people. She got me from "homeless people" and she kept me for three days. She brought me here to find a new home with my brother, Shy Boy. He has already been adopted so now I am alone. Hopefully that is not for long. For the three days that the woman had me, she said I liked to sleep in a cat bed and enjoyed scratching posts, lasers and strings. I also liked cat nip.
Here at the MaxFund, I have been a bit shy. I tend to hang out in the cat condo in a cubby hole. But I enjoy petting. I especially enjoy having my head stroked. That is relaxing for me and I hope for you. Try doing it on a stressed friend sometime to see what I mean. It is very soothing. Anyway, getting back to me. I am a quiet and gentle cat. But at the same time, I am friendly and loving. What I want most in the world is to live in a warm home (not on the streets anymore) with a family or person who thinks I'm wonderful. Some cat nip, a comfy cat bed or couch, string toys and sunshine would round out heaven for me. Please come meet me to see how special I am.
