My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We were sent a head shot of a “dachshund” and a plea from the shelter to save him. This shelter is in the middle of nowhere and most dogs do not make it out alive. Since we didn’t have a senior male in the Bay area, we decided to squeeze him in.

Imagine our surprise when the transporter unloaded our new dog after his four hour journey to his new foster home. As you can see by the photos, Daddy Longlegs is actually an Italian Greyhound (or a mostly Italian Greyhound)

Daddy has been super sweet since the moment he arrived. He’s a big love bug. The poor boy was so excited to have a dogloo that you would have thought it was Christmas. Nice as the dogloo is, we worked on convincing Daddy that he really needed to become a house dog. It took a few days, but Daddy quickly decided sleeping inside in a cozy crate was a pretty sweet deal.

When Daddy arrived, his teeth were in such terrible condition, it hurt him to even have his mouth touched. As a result, even though IG’s are supposed to be thin, Daddy was skeletal. We tortured the other dogs by letting Daddy have junky canned dog food. (He rejected the good stuff). All we cared about was getting calories into him so he would have the strength to make it through dental surgery.

Now that he has had his dental and had the rotten teeth removed, Daddy is feeling much better. Because his foster home is crowded, Daddy has been assigned an important task. His job is to be worshipped by a six month old feral doxie puppy. The puppy took one look at Daddy and decided he hung the moon. The two now share a crate together at night and he is helping her believe that people can be trusted.

Now only is Daddy good with other dogs but he loves people and gives wonderful greetings when you return home. He is a quiet boy and doesn’t join in the dachshund barking.

If you are looking for an all around gentle dog, Daddy is your boy. He really is an easy dog.
Daddy is neutered, vaccinated and has had a complete dental.

The tax deductible fee for Daddy is a modest donation to rescue.
