Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Skippy is a happy, happy girl who began her life as a therapy dog at a group home for the mentally challenged. She loved her friends there, but they didn't interact with Skippy as much as had been hoped. For this reason, she has now come to MWCR where she is working hard to show everyone at her foster home that she has more than enough love to spread around. She gets along beautifully with everyone she meets – kids, adults, friends, strangers, big dogs and even little ones. She regards the bigger dogs as playmates that she can frolic with and she sees the little dogs as battery-free toys to be chased. She hasn't met any cats at her foster home, but we assume that she would treat them much the same way that she treats little dogs. For this reason, she would probably get along best with dog-savvy cats that wouldn't run from her.
Skippy is a smart, well mannered girl who is fully house trained and knows the basic commands. She is very eager to please, so it is easy to teach her new things. She is learning to walk calmly on her leash, though she is always tempted to give chase when an impudent squirrel crosses her path. She rarely barks, but does like to greet newcomers to her house with a welcoming series of woofs and an eager, wagging tail. “Pet me! Pet me!” Although she sleeps in her crate at night, she has the run of the house during the day.
Skippy would do well in almost any environment, but she should probably have a fenced yard to prevent her from straying while in pursuit of a squirrel or bunny. She would love to have either children or another active dog to play with. Although her time at the group home didn't work out, Skippy has shown herself to be a well behaved collie who is ready to fill her new, forever home with love and joy.
