My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet our latest heartmelter, Mac. This handsome classic boy arrived at WBCR just a total mess, both physically and emotionally. Picked up as a stray, we know nothing about his past. He arrived in a Utah shelter with his fur matted so terribly on his hind legs that it was painful and he had trouble walking - causing weakness and his muscles beginning to atrophy. It appeared that Mac had been on his own for some time, or perhaps neglected. After arriving to Colorado, blood work indicated Mac has moderate chronic kidney disease and he also developed a severe case of kennel cough after being exposed in Utah prior to transport. We didn’t have much hope for this lost soul, but he wormed his way into everyone’s hearts quickly, and he landed a safe, warm, loving, and devoted foster home at WBCR.

Fast forward a few weeks…and apparently someone forgot to tell Mac about his kidney disease because he doesn’t seem to know!! Mac’s kennel cough is now a thing of the past, and he is looking for a new adventure. Currently, Mac is on a low protein diet, gets daily exercise and is doing great. He has received a medical bath to help with his matting and today his fur is beautiful. He is weighing in at a healthy 45 pounds. With daily walks and exercise, Mac’s back legs are developing muscle and he is now able to run across the yard fetching his favorite toy – a squeaky ball. Mac gets along with both male & female dogs whether they are big or little. When Mac isn’t playing fetch, he loves just snoozing in the yard or on the deck. Mac loves people and truly has unwavering devotion. There is something special about this easygoing boy with a heart of gold.

Mac is a mature, mellow guy, between 8-9 years old, guy who wants nothing more than a meal, someone to toss a ball, go for a walk, and share time with people. We never thought we’d be announcing him as available – but here he is, WBCR’s wonder boy, ready for a new beginning with a forever family to love him for the rest of his years. If you like the idea of a mellow boy who has defied the odds and is clearly not ready to give up on a chance at love in this life, Mac may be the one for you!

Mac is neutered, fully vetted, and living in a loving foster home in Fort Collins, CO.
