My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi There-
My name is Chico and I want to tell you my story. I used to live with my mom and dad and some friends of mine. I thought my mom loved me, I really did, but I guess she didn’t. See, my mom moved out of the house and left me and my friends in a kennel outside in the back yard. I’m just a little guy, I barely weigh six pounds, so outside was scary. Even though I’m a Chihuahua and we are courageous, I was still scared. Especially when there wasn’t enough food from time to time, and things were worse.
My foster mom tells me I lived there for two years. (By the way I was born 2-14-06). Luckily, someone called my foster mom, and here I am. Sadly, my friends didn’t make it. I’m so lucky I did.
My foster mom says she loves me, everyone here does, but she says I deserve my own forever home. A lap to snuggle on and a never ending supply of food, maybe even some treats. Don’t worry, I don’t eat much. She says I am crate trained, whatever that means, but that I deserve a bed to sleep in. Can you imagine, me, getting to share a bed with my family? I get so excited when she tells me about the life I am going to have now. I cannot wait to get started! So please let them know if you are my new home. Because I have so much love to give you that I do not want to waste another minute!
Love Chico

The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.

After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not meet he/she will be adopted to that home.

Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
