That’s the great thing about senior dogs. They have been around the block a time or two and understand what it takes to live peacefully in a household. Seniors like Lilly appreciate the simple things in life: a good nap, a yummy treat, or a good scratch behind the ears from their owner. With seniors, what you see is what you get - no surprises.
Lilly is a delightful girl and the apple of her foster mom’s eyes. To this day, we are baffled as to how her former owners could have turned this precious blind dog out into the street, but this is what happened to Lilly. We rescued Lilly from a local animal shelter, after receiving a desperate plea on her behalf. When Lilly left the shelter with her foster mom, her tail was wagging the entire time. She was more than happy to turn over a new leaf and trusted her foster mom from the beginning. Dogs are amazingly resilient and Lilly’s willingness to love seems to know no bounds.
Judging from the animal shelter’s estimate on Lilly’s age, she is about 11 or 12 years young. She is perfectly portable at about 12 to 13 lbs. Lilly is in excellent health and has no plans to slow down any time soon. She is spayed, current on shots, microchipped, heartworm-negative and is current on monthly heartworm preventative. Lilly has also had her teeth cleaned. Our $175 adoption fee helps offset the cost of Lilly’s vet visit.
We know that most people are looking for puppies or younger dogs and that many people are hesitant to adopt a dog who has more years behind her than ahead of her. But we have to believe that there is a special somebody out there for Lilly - someone who will give this precious girl lots of love and take good care of her. Someone who is not afraid to open their heart to a senior dog. If you would like to give Lilly a loving, forever home, we invite you to complete our adoption application today:
