Margarita's Info...

Margarita's Story...
Margarita is a small and shy female blue and gold macaw. She is on the younger side, around 15-16 years old and has a large vocabulary. She was surrendered due to noise issues, however, we have not had any issues with her noise level while in foster. She is actually a very quiet macaw – but this could change once she settles in more. She displays keen interest in the activities around her and seems to enjoy the company of other birds nearby. She is stick trained, but she does take time before she will trust new people and step up for you. She does love her head scratches though! She is starting to learn about toys and swings and especially loves her stainless steel cylinder bell - she usually tinks the bell lightly instead of speaking or squawking to get your attention. She has been converted to a healthy diet of mixed pellets with fresh vegetables, nuts and fruits – she is a great eater. Her vet check went wonderfully and she is healthy and ready to be adopted!

All birds have been properly vetted by an avian veterinarian before being placed up for adoption. Interested in adoption? Please go to our website to fill out an application and to read our adoption protocols at http://floridaparrotrescue.com/adopt-foster-application/

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Margarita, a Tampa Macaw was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Macaw for sale in Tampa, or seeking a Macaw from a breeder in Tampa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tampa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tampa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Macaw breeders who help with Macaw rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tampa paves the way for another one to be saved.
