Archie's Story...
Archie is a handsome (and typically goofy!) chocolate lab mix. He is a whole lot of bouncy, happy, silly fun. Archie came to us as a stray so we don't know much about his history. He loves to run around like a wild man and will most definitely benefit by learning some doggy manners. He'll do best in an active home where he can run and run (and run). Archie has learned some doggie manners - he's learning that sitting is a polite way to ask for something, he also knows how to lay down, and can fetch - but he needs a person who is going to continue to work with him on his training. Archie tends to be playful and friendly with other dogs but can be a little pushy so a carefully matched companion might do the trick for the excitable guy. Because Archie still thinks he's a puppy and has trouble keeping all four on the floor, he may be too much for some young children. We ask that all family members be present in order to adopt this strapping young lab! Please speak to the adoption counselors if you would like more information on this lovely goofball!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Archie, a Ithaca Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Ithaca, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Ithaca.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Ithaca already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Ithaca breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Ithaca paves the way for another one to be saved.
