My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone! I'm Elmer. I'm so happy to be posted here because that means I'm one step closer to my forever home! I spent two long months in a central Ohio shelter before I came to my foster home. I'm so happy to be in a home with couches to lounge on, other dogs to play with and a yard to run around. I'm estimated to be 4-5 year old and am a bigger beagle, weighing 31 pounds. I get along with the other dogs and cat here. I like to play and can be a little rough sometimes due to my bigger size. My family crates me during the day when they are at work and at night in the bedroom. I'm keep my crate clean and dry. I'm still learning house training. I've had a few accidents as I'm teaching my foster family by cues. With a little more practice I think I will have it down.

I love to go for walks and don't pull hard on my leash. Of course being a beagle my nose is always on the ground catching all the smells. I don't bark often, but have a nice deep howl when I do. I normally only bark when I see another dog walking by the house.

A few notes from foster dad:

Elmer is a really good boy. He's a big lug that aims to please. He's pretty mild mannered, but has a fair amount of energy. He was fairly anxious and unsettled when he first came to our house, but I can't blame him after spending two months in a shelter and who knows where before this. He has settled nicely after the first week and I think he knows that good things are in his future. He seems to be in great health and is up to date on his vaccinations. If you are looking for a nice beagle buddy, consider Elmer.
