My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Merry has been adopted by the most wonderful mom! Go, Merry!
Merry is a Class A fluff-bucket full of gentle, unending love. She loves to lie around all day and then chase a squirrel in the backyard when she goes out to potty. Merry loves leash walks, especially when she gets to see other animals. Whether it's a dog or cat or squirrel, they excite her immensely! She lives with a pack of 5 other dogs, girls and boys alike. While she enjoys her siblings, her favorite past time involves squeaky toys and Nylabones and a soft bed.

To quote Captain Chaos, you can teach an old dog new tricks as long as they're an upgrade. Merry has reveled in new-found joys such as leash walks, being an indoor dog with outdoor privileges, & being surrounded by lots of love for TV time at night. While she didn't enjoy being on the sofa or in bed with us, Merry loved having multiple beds to choose from when it was time to rest. If you're wanting a dog that doesn't get on your furniture, the dude-ette abides.

Merry, being older and settled, does take time to acclimate to a new environment and people. She is very loyal to her people when given a few weeks to acclimate. Her start in life wasn't everything it should have been, but patience & love has gotten her over any hurdles that have arisen.

This sweet ol' girl originally was adopted from Sumner County animal control circa 2007 when she was 1-2 years old. Unfortunately her adopters chained her in the backyard & allowed their children to torment her with their screaming, rock throwing, & overall meanness. A kind neighbor unchained her & claimed Merry as his own. While she continued to live outside & in the basement when weather demanded, Merry at least received food & love. Years later when the Nashville flood occurred, Merry's original family packed up & moved, officially abandoning her & relinquishing ownership to the one & only friend she had, the kind neighbor who unchained her years earlier. In October 2012, Merry again met sadness when her owner passed away suddenly. Merry was confused & anxious & in desperate need of help when she checked into Camp the following month.

Merry was spayed before she was adopted circa 2007. She is current on her vaccinations, and has been treated for heartworms with the fabulous vets at 5 Points Animal Hospital (East Nashville TN 37206). Her multiple blood work panels & chest x-rays before and during treatment show her heart as strong, plus the heartworms thankfully were not overrunning her body. Her overall good health & catching them early has made treatment much easier. Now that she is confirmed heartworm negative, she is current on heartworm preventatives. Her biggest issue is hot spots at her tail. We're working on that one with her.

Please consider making Merry, a truly special & gentle love, part of your family. She's not quite old enough to be considered a 'golden oldie' but she will enrich your life & put pep in your step as if she were made of 'Solid Gold'!

All Camp Chaos dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. There are no exceptions. Adoption fee is $90.

Thank you for wanting to share your home with one of our rescued pups! If you are a parent adopting for your children, please remember we do pick the best home for our pups. If there are 2 applications that come in at the same time, for example, and one will be a better fit, that is the one we choose. Many parents pump up their children about getting a specific puppy, and it can be very sad for the child if the particular puppy isn't a good fit unbeknownst to them. We put this disclaimer here because a couple of parents have been upset when a home that used doggy daycare & had a fenced in yard was chosen over crate-all-day without a backyard. Peace.
