My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Darby is a darling little girl. She is friendly with everyone and everything. She listens well especially for her age and would be a wonderful family companion. She will need someone that has the time and commitment to continue her training but is well worth the effort. She would do well in just about any home, with or without other pets (although she is great with cats and other dogs) and children would be great. Darby is approximately 7 - 9 months old and weighs 30 lbs.

Here is what her foster Mom had to say:

Darby is an amazingly smart little dog. She just loves my cat (Smudge). Darby tries to give him his treats and toys. Will try to chase him at times, just to play. Smudge spoils her fun by not running.

Darby thinks everyone should talk to her. She wags her little tail like crazy. While I am at work she will bring every toy into the living room. If I leave the room she will follow to see where I am going. She does not bark when I leave the house, in fact the only time she barks is when the phone rings. She loves to cuddle up. She loves her belly rubbed and looking out the window. Darby likes to play with her toys and try to cuddle with Smudge. She loves going for walks and chasing the birds in the yard.

Darby has very good manners. She does not steal food or get up on the table or counter. She is a fast learner and very eager to please. She is currently learning "leave it" when we are out on our walks. She has already learned sit, down, and come. She is fully house trained. I have a crate but do not use it. She has not done anything wrong (like chewing on things) and can be completely trusted in the home for a normal working day. She seems afraid of the crate. I am working on getting her comfortable with it. She goes in a few minutes at a time. I can walk away now and she will just sit and wait. Darby loves going for walks. She does still pull a little and gets distracted easily but she is getting better all the time.

Darby is a young dog that would be great in any family. She really needs a yard to run around in. She needs walking daily. She craves attention and takes all she can get, but she is also content to just lay on the couch or play with a toy or treat by herself.

If you would like to make Darby part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
