Here's what the humans have to say about me:
On February 3rd, Friendship received a desperate plea for help from Holmes County. Their volunteers asked if we could pull a few of their adoptable dogs because they had just confiscated 71 dogs and puppies from a basement breeder! Our staff knew that Holmes legitimately only had room for about 20 dogs in their shelter – a shelter which is little more than a converted garage. We told their volunteers that a staff member would drive down the next day to pick up several dogs and puppies to house at our facility during the trial. Staff member Alyssa Bring and Executive Director Gregory Willey ended up bringing back 23 dogs. It was heartbreaking seeing 5-6 dogs stuffed in one cage.
On April 10th, Greg received word that the judge had ruled that the dogs were now able to be adopted out to new homes! As these dogs are adopted out Friendship will be rescuing more of the dogs still in Holmes County.
All the dogs rescued have very sweet dispositions. Some are still scared and some are shy. All will need to learn how to be dogs again. They will need families that are willing to be patient and work with them in their strange new wonderful world. All are looking for love and have lots of love to give in return.
Ellie Mae came to the FAPL scared and unsure of people. She stayed in the corner of her kennel most of the time and was fearful on a leash. After weeks of attention, playtime, baths and some leash training, her sweet personality really shines. Do not let Ellie’s underbite give you the impression that she is grumpy in any way. After she gets to know you she gladly opens up and greets you with nothing but smiles.
