My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hunter is like a little Newfie in miniature weighing just under 50 lbs. Hunter is a lover and is friendly with everyone. He is a young boy and can sometimes be too friendly. He will need further training to help him reach his full potential but overall he is a happy go-lucky, well mannered pup. He is approximately 10 months - one year old.

Here is what his foster had to say:

Hunter is a healthy, happy boy. He has a beautiful coat and the softest eyes. He is an extremely good looking dog and gets lots of attention from everyone because he is also very friendly. He is not shy at all and will go up to anyone for a pet. He is a big puppy however and may not be the best for young children that he may knock over. With continued training however and learning not to jump up, he will be a fantastic all around family companion.

Hunter really is a social butterfly by nature. He gets along well with other dogs of all sizes and just wants to play, play, play. Again, as he is a puppy he can be too much for smaller dogs and he would probably do best in a home without cats until he becomes desensitized to them. At the moment he just wants to play with them and thinks chasing them is a great game. Of course there is no aggression in him but rather it is just his size and young age that can be an issue.

He is very intelligent and catches on to things very quickly and he is eager to please for praise, making him a wonderful candidate for obedience classes. He has learned sit, and we are currently working on other basic commands and to walk nicely on leash. He is a strong dog and can pull so until he is fully leash trained he would not be a good choice for anyone that couldn't handle his strength. He is getting a lot better and of course with time and training, that won't be an issue.

Hunter is very good when left on his own but it would be best to continue crating him while you are away. He enjoys playing with toys and will often just carry them around with him. He is crate trained and settles fairly well. He sleeps in his crate during the night with no issues. He is fully house trained and knows to go outside to do his business. He is a dog that needs regular exercise to keep him happy. As long as he gets the exercise he needs, he is very good in the house. He is a very quiet dog and even when he does bark, which isn't often, it has a muffled sound.

He would do well in a family that's active. He's not a dog who likes to just relax all day. He's Mr Social so he'd love to go on play dates.
He's up for anything and this is what makes him so fun. Hunter is very sweet and eager to learn, he looks right at you for approval which really helps for training. I could see him doing great in agility classes. He also loves hugs and just to be loved up. He'd make a wonderful addition to someone's family.

If you think Hunter would be a good choice for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
