Petunia was found in early 2009 by one of our volunteers in the middle of a highway. She was about 15 days old and had no hair, nothing but skin hanging on bones. We took her in and helped her back to health. As she grew she developed quite a personality. Due to her serious health issues as a puppy, she didn’t get to develop through her puppy stages completely so now she thinks she is still a tiny puppy. She weighs about 60 pounds but think she weighs about 8. She loves to romp and doves to dress up. She had a very hard time growing hair as a puppy, but somehow figured out wearing outfits was about as good as having hair. She will go into the closet and dress herself and come show you what she is wearing. Petunia is a dog who likes to grin, some people don’t understand grinning dogs. Some people think that grinning is a dog bearing their teeth, but it is different. They grin because they are happy and want you to know that they are happy. Grinning is contagious. Try grinning at someone you pass and see if they will grin back at you.
Petunia is pen mates with Marty and Brees. If you come to the shelter to walk her don't let her tough bark stop you….. she is nothing but love.
