My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ALFIE. Such a beauty! Only 21 months old and saved from BYB. Take a look at those pictures. Alfie is a black & tan longhaired dachshund (AKC, no papers). He is a sweet boy, but came to us in terrible condition. Now he is on the road to recovery. He has a serious flea allergy for which he is on meds. And very thin, so we have him on a special weight gain diet. Now weighs 12.9 lbs and he needs to gain. We have salmon oil on his food and high quality dry dog food which will give him a lustrous coat. Alfie has no personality issues. Our doxie vet was unable to neuter him until he finishes his meds. However, we would like to see him adopted now then brought back to my doxie vet for re check and neuter. ODR Inc will pay for neuter in 30 days. He has had rabies, dhpp, bordetella, and pyrantly, and has been groomed nails and ears done. Could be place with spayed female doxie; older kids ok Alfie is one special and delightful loving boy.

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same sex in a home and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues. All our dogs are fully vetted, including all shots, wormer & flea protection, nails trimmed, the works. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, no exceptions as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training. Can you give him a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jjrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
