Sam's Story...
Sam was going to be a “gift” to a girlfriend, but it turned out she couldn’t take him. The boyfriend couldn’t keep him either, as his little brother had allergies, so Sam ended up being taken in by a neighbor who is a 4Paws volunteer.

Not much is known about Sam (except he was being called “Sophie” which probably caused some upset……..) before he came to 4Paws, but since he has been with his foster, he has shown himself to be a very friendly, calm and generally a very nice cat. He likes to lie next to you, be petted and isn’t adverse to being picked up and cuddled – what more could you ask for! He also seems to be OK with the family dog – as long as she doesn’t insist in getting right in his face!

He was born June 2012. He has been neutered, is up-to-date on all his shots and is has been tested negative for feline leukemia/FIV. All he needs now is a forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sam, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
