My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wow would you look at how handsome this boy is? Right? Holy moly... A boy this handsome shows up as a stray at the pound and winds up on the euthanasia list because his "eyes were runny" We couldn't let him die so he is here with us looking for his forever home. Jackson is a huge cuddle bug. He climbs in your lap ever chance he can. He knows his basic commands and walks well on a leash. He also has excellent recall and realized his new name in just one day. I guess he likes it! Jackson is a 103 pounds of pure muscle, He gets along very well with the other rotties in the yard, and its cute to watch him get excited and play bow. He also plays very gently with little puppies, and therefore, I think he would do just fine with a small breed dog. Jackson is very confident and protective of his foster family. He will sometimes "talk" and be vocal if you are doing something he doesn't like. Due to his size sometimes his intentions are misread and he scares people. He needs a family who can give him the time he needs to realize he can trust you. A family who is not compelled to get in his face and rub him really hard the second they meet him. In due time, you will be able to do anything you want o Jackson, but in the beginning just let him get used to you. The more he gets to know you, the better he is about letting you touch him in sensitive areas though. After two weeks, he will pretty much let me touch him anywhere, but I still approach him slow, and talk him through it. . He also does not like to be grabbed by his collar, but will walk perfect for you on a leash. He doesn't pull at all, and he has a perfect heel! Very easy to take this big boy for a stroll through the neighborhood. Jackson has no bite record as far as we know. We have never observed him around children but due to his hesitation to trust right away, kids may only be okay if they are a little older, like 10 years and up. He is not food aggressive or toy aggressive. I have met a lot of Rottes in my life and Jackson is as cool as they come!!
Jackson had entropian surgery recently to correct inverted eyelids. Surgery was a success and he is all healed from that now. He is, however, blind in one eye that is irreversible. Jackson can see great in his good eye and he has no problems in that eye. We have had him fully vetted. Neutered, full blood panel, vaccinated, surgery on his eye and microchipped.
