My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chloe is an 11 year old Moluccan Cockatoo who was released to Florida Parrot Rescue due to a severe medical issue of one of the owners, they were distraught to have to give her up and she was a very well loved and well cared for bird. Chloe adjusts pretty well to new situations, other than a few small rough patches for a couple of days in the beginning involving some nipping, she settled in quite well and is not aggressive at all. Chloe is fully feathered and loves attention! You can trim her wings and toenails easily and she loves to be held and scritched. She is very happy on her tree stand and is usually quiet as long as she can see you. She also likes spending time on the porch soaking up the sun, but really prefers being with her people. Chloe eats a balanced diet of mixed pellets (not colored) - she likes to soak her pellets in her drinking water so her water needs to be changed several times a day. Chloe also likes most fruits and vegetables, but likes her veggies slightly cooked. She will eat almost anything that you have on your plate, which is a good reason for you to eat healthier! She is a little unsure about the birdie bread, but we are working on it slowly. Chloe is a little loud in the early morning and around bedtime – but this is very normal for cockatoos. As with all cockatoos, she would not be good for an apartment or other close living quarters. Chloe’s vet visit went well and she was declared in good health - the vet also commented on her great feather condition! Anyone that is thinking of adopting her should be aware of the dust/dander problems and not have pre-existing allergies and be aware that with all cockatoos, they can be very loud and consistent in their demands for attention.
