Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello! My name is Duncan. I am a 3-4 year old yellow Labrador retriever who was rescued from Southern Illinois last June. I was running around by myself for at least one year, and when I got tired of that, I walked myself right into the local hospital. The people there were very nice and took me to the pound where Safely Home Canine Rescue came and saved me. I was heartworm positive, have been through treatment, and am completely heartworm free today. I live in a pretty quiet household with my foster mom and a few kitties. I don’t mind the kitties except when they bat me on the nose. Then I might chase them. I have typical lab behaviors in that I love to run around and even sometimes get into some mischief. I have to say, if you want a dog to play ball, you will do more ball retrieving than I will! I will be a loyal companion, be your best friend, follow you around the house from room to room, and sit on your lap if you will allow me to. But let me tell you I do weigh about 75-80 pound! I require a fenced in yard to burn off my energy and will love to go on walks with you, but because I am accustomed to running around on my own, I need to be on a leash to ensure nothing but you grabs my attention. Being on my own for so long I don’t always know how to introduce myself to other dog. Some I like, and some I do not like, so I would be much happier as the only dog in the household. I don’t like dog parks: way too much excitement for me. Could you be my forever home? I am patiently waiting……… Please contact us at shcr@safelyhomecaninerescue.org or visit our website at www.safelyhomecaninerescue.org to find out more about this cutie available for adoption.
