Tara's Story...

This black and tan beauty was surrendered to a high kill pound in Louisiana with her 2 puppies. The pups got lots of interest at the shelter and were adopted but no one seemed interested in momma Tara. Luckily she was rescued by a local LA group, PAWS of NE LA and is now looking for a northern home thanks to their great partnership with Bonnie Blue Rescue!

We think Tara is a Rottweiler x Lab mix. She is approximately 2 years old and 45#. Tara is great with other dogs (loves to play with them) and cats (is a bit cautious and very respectful of them). She has shown some mild herding behavior with kids which is likely the "drover" traits from her Rottie side coming out. She would likely do best in a home with older kids. Tara does currently 'pull like a mule' on leash but her foster mom is working with her on leash walking and other basic obedience. She will need a home that can continue her training.

Tara is very smart and eager to please. She is house trained and crated trained and is trustworthy enough to sleep on a dog bed in her foster parents' bedroom at night. She does occasionally sneak up on the bed for some cuddles. Tara is happy to meet new people and visit new places. She would be a great match for most any active family.

She is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and current on prevention. Hurry and apply for this fun loving girl today! Tara is in a foster home in Louisiana but can be transported north to an adoptive family at no additional charge!

Pleas email us at bonniebluerescue@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting Tara! Our adoption fee is $300. $75 of the adoption fee is refundable if proof of obedience class is demonstrated within 3 months of adoption. Each of our pups goes to their forever family up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered & microchipped.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tara, a Richmond Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
