Jack's Story...
Meet Jack. He is a beautiful little long-haired dachshund pup that is approximately 10 weeks old. Poor Jack and his siblings were turned into the Kentucky River Animal Shelter because their owner could no longer take care of them. Luckily for them, one of our rescuers happened to be at the shelter so they were taken straight from the owner to our rescue. Jack weighs approximately 4lbs and is tricolored. He has long, fluffy hair on his ears and medium length fur on his body. Jack is super social and just begs to be petted. He loves to run and play but also enjoys a good snuggle in someones lap. Jack will have 2 sets of puppy vaccines, be given a fecal exam (dewormer or albon if necessary), and microchipped, He will come with a mandatory spay/neuter contract which states that he will be neutered at 6 months of age (no exceptions!) and that we will be provided with proof this was completed.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Jack, a Hazard Dachshund puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Hazard, or seeking a Dachshund puppy from a breeder in Hazard.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hazard already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hazard breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hazard paves the way for another one to be saved.
