My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Barkley – My name is Barkley and I became homeless after my owner brought me to a boarding facility in Houston’s East End and simply never came back. I was tiny, only a few months old, and very scared and lonely.
It was a relief when Barrio Dogs took me in. I am now fully vetted, neutered, heartworm free, micro chipped, and ready for my forever home.
The vet says I am about nine months old and won’t get very big, 20 pounds at the most. I have a silky soft white coat with tan ears and a few tan spots. I love being held and snuggling with my human friends but I also like running around, playing with toys, and just being a puppy. I am eager to make friends with the big dogs, but because I’m the little guy, I must play on my own, separated from the rest.
They tell me I have friendly “twinkling eyes” and a great attitude. Just the other day, I walked on a leash for the first time and did quite well. I am learning to listen and will “come” and “sit” on command, which is quite good for a puppy and apparently means I am smart. I am also comfortable in a crate (Lord knows I spend enough time in one) and enjoy car rides.
Thank you for reading my biography. I still live in boarding but dream of going to a real home with someone who loves and cares about me. If you’d like to know more about me, please contact tauna@barriodogs.org.
