Max's Story...

Max is a two year old lab mix.  He currently lives with several cats, kids and two other dogs.  Max is a little shy at first and really seems to prefer men.  It might be an ideal for Max, where he was the only dog, so that he could get all the attention.  Right now, the girl dogs he lives with are very playful and rowdy..... that makes him nervous.

We are not sure where Max spent the beginning of his life....we suspect outside.  When he came to us, he was very dirty, thin and heartworm positive.  He has been very lucky to have been saved from the streets.  His foster home is very nurturing and loving.....and it is busy... dogs, cats and kids.  So Max has been living a good life and is waiting to spend the rest of it with you.

His foster mom says that it takes him a little time to warm up.  At his photo shoot, he was very intent on making sure his mamma wasnt bothered.  Max seems to be cautious, but once he realizes you are good and no one will hurt him or the ones he loves, he becomes his cute self.

It really makes my heart hurt, to grow up not knowing if someone is going to be nice to you or not... very sad.  Max is great on a leash and is great meeting new people and dogs on his walks around the neighborhood.

Max is a loving and loyal dog who just needs a chance to prove it.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Max, a Merrillville Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Merrillville, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Merrillville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrillville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrillville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrillville paves the way for another one to be saved.
