Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Reagan is a DNA tested female, 8 year old Severe Macaw. Her DOB is 8/19/2004. She was previously adopted, but unfortunately, on occasions, birds are returned to rescue (which is why we have such strict adoption contracts). Reagan was returned to us because she became extremely tightly bonded to one person in the home and began to bite and attack the other person, she also began to constantly vocalize in an effort to seek constant attention after being doted on, due to this fact, all of this has been a little confusing for Reagan but a soft voice and a confident arm will win her over quickly. She will need to be adopted to someone who understands macaws as well as positive reinforcement and is willing to work with her to be handleable with everyone in the home as she is otherwise, a very affectionate and easygoing bird. She is very playful and loves to clown around with her bell. She says “hot”, “hello” and “hi” but does not speak often until she is very comfortable with you. Before coming to rescue she had always lived in the same home and was not well socialized, so initially she is frightened of new surroundings, but she comes around quick with confident people. She is in beautiful feather and is currently eating Higgins Sunburst and Tropican pellets. She is a little hesitant on chop and other fruits and veggies, but we will continue to work with her on diet. Reagan is inquisitive and affectionate, a dream companion for someone who appreciates and understands the personality of the mini macaw!
