Zoey's Story...
Zoey is beautiful young black & white Border Collie. Zoey( born on Christmas Day 2011, spayed) was surrenderd by her owner due the fact, that she is highly afraid of Uniforms and men and would hide behind the couch aslong her "Daddy" was around. Zoey will need a very understanding and patient owner, pref. a single woman.

She is a typical Border Collie, learns pretty fast, LOVES to play frisbee and knows to "stay", "lay down", "sit" and "come". She also shows alot of "will to please".

We are pretty sure, that in the "right" hands, she would be a awesome agility dog, that will also cuddle with you on the couch at night.

Zoey 's Adoption Fee is $82, which includes: Microchip, Vaccines ( Distemper & Rabies), Heartwormtest and deworming.

*update 19 May 2013*

Zoey is making progress, she shows, that, if men give her space and spend time with her, she will learn to trust. One of our soldiers and my husband are working and spending time with her currently. On Saturday she actually let my husband take her for a walk and play with her, she even animated him and brought her frisbee right to him. She also played tug-o-war with him, even it was just for a brief second. And this all after the second time he met her.

We have not tested the uniform yet.

We also found out, that she is a very dominant female, that will defend her recourses ( food, person, toy) against other dogs. But dont let that scare you off . We just recommend that she should go either to a home, where Zoey can be the princess or to a confident male.

We are still looking for a Foster home or a Rescue.

Act quickly to adopt Zoey. Pets at this Shelter may be held for only a short time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Zoey, a Fort Riley Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Fort Riley, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Fort Riley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Fort Riley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Fort Riley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Fort Riley paves the way for another one to be saved.
