This sweet face is Gus. Gus was someone's dog as he came to the vet partially vetted and they left his vetting papers at the shelter when they dropped him off, but we don't know why.
Gus is a sweet, mellow, goofy guy. When properly introduced he does well with other dogs and kids. Gus is a bit of a clutz, so older children are preferred. He has not been around kitties, but has a strong prey drive so they are not recommended. A doggy playmate is not necessary, but he does love the ladies! When first introduced, toy time and food should be kept separate from other animals as sometimes he does not like sharing. A privacy fence, property with supervision or a tie out are a must, as he can jump standard fences. Gus is housebroken and crate trained, however prefers to be out and about. He does suffer mild separation anxiety, so a home where someone is home most of the time is preferred. He is still learning leash manners and is super strong, but he loves going on walks, and even loves running. He is not super affectionate, but will cuddle once he learns to trust you. He knows how to sit, lay down, stay and loves to jump and catch treats. He will do anything for a rawhide, stick or ice.
