My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gabby will make someone a loving, loyal and fun-loving pet. She is friendly with people and amazingly well socialized with other dogs. She has reacted to every situation she has encountered at dog-park PERFECTLY. Gabby is a happy confident dog who integrated herself into our family instantly. Gabby is an adult dog approximately 3 - 4 years old, weighing approximately 42 lbs.

Here is what else her foster family had to say:

Gabby will be an amazing dog to have for a family with children. She already loves our two kids (ages 7 and 9). She is very alert and seems to want to know where all family members are at all times, if we are at the park and my daughter wanders off, she will follow her to keep an eye on her! She is incredibly smart and wants to be around us all the time. Gabby is also very snuggly and loves to lie beside us on the couch. She is a great couch dog because she barely sheds and she has the softest fur of any adult dog I know! I think she would be great for anyone who is interested in agility training as she seems to learn really quickly and seems to like to have a "job" to do. She is very active and loves to run with other dogs at the park.

Gabby barked at the front hall at my parents when they came to visit, but as soon as she realized they were welcome in our house she stopped and was up lying beside my Mom on the couch in 5 minutes! She gets along great with our other dog and our two cats. Her favourite things are to cuddle, give kisses, play tug-o-war, and frolic with other dogs at the dog park.

She is normally very quiet in the home. When you lock her in her crate and people are still up and about in the house she will bark because she wants to be with us. However if she is in her crate when we leave or when we go to sleep, she settles right down and you don't hear a peep out of her. She is a bit cheeky but VERY trainable, we have already trained her to sit outside the kitchen door when we are eating. I've seen her eyeing food on the counter but she hasn't actually tried to take anything. She also got out of the backyard once and was a bit difficult to catch as she wanted to play and tried to turn it into a game of keepaway! She knows "sit" and "out" have worked so far. She would definitely benefit from further training. She is nearly leash trained, but will pull if she sees a squirrel.

Gabby would suit most environments. Ideally she would do best with an active outdoorsy family with kids, and would be happy in a home with multiple pets.

If you think Gabby would be a good fit for your family, please submit an application for consideration.
