My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lenny is a handsome, regal looking, young man!! Lenny is very smart & has caught on quickly to the routine. After only 1 walk he knew which house was his. He was obviously loved & has been taught ‘sit’, ‘no’, ‘quiet’ & has very good manners. He loves other dogs but would probably do well as an only dog as I think that was the case in his previous home. He quickly discovered the location of the toy box & has already selected a few that he enjoys tossing around. He wants badly to play chase but the resident dogs ignore him so I cheer him on as he zooms around the dining room table.

Lenny loves going for walks & is an excellent walking companion!! He walks briskly & seems interested in running when he sees other runners. He does want to leave pmail on just about everything but responds well with ‘c’mon’. Lenny is housetrained. He did attempt once to mark a dog bed but stopped immediately with a firm ‘no’ & hasn’t attempted to mark again in the house despite being recently neutered. He’s an easy going boy & has readily accepted his position as the lowest dog in the pack despite being bigger than the resident dogs… he’s a lover not a fighter! He loves curling up on your lap but is happy to be in the room with you if you’re busy or if that lap is occupied by a snotty resident dog.

Despite being through a lot in the last month, Lenny is a loving, happy, well-adjusted boy. His previous owners took him to the vet when he had trouble & pain urinating. The vet discovered that he had bladder stones & surgery was the only option to remove them. Sadly, the family was unable to afford the surgery so the clinic agreed to take ownership so Lenny could get immediate relief. Lenny underwent 2 surgeries to remove the stones & was also neutered… he spent a month at the clinic undergoing these procedures. Once Lenny had a clean bill of health the clinic reached out to CRT to see if we had room in our program for him. It’s not clear what caused the bladder stones but causes can be a poor diet, untreated bladder infections, and tap water with high mineral levels. Lenny is on a special diet of Hills Prescriptive U/D & no further problems should occur as long as he remains on this diet.

Lenny deserves a home with the family that loves him & can provide him with the care he needs. If you'd like that family to be yours, please fill out an application to meet Lenny today! Lenny is neutered, soon to be micro-chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. He is ready to join a loving family - could you be his perfect home?
