Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Here's a new video of Bixby.playing with a squeaky toy.
UPDATED BIO 06/24/2013: BIXBY is 5 years old and weighs a skinny 5 lbs – a healthier weight for him would be 6 – 6 ½ lbs. Bixby is being fostered in The Villages, FL., north of Orlando.
Bixby has become the King of Squeaker Toys in his foster home. He lives to play with toys, especially the ones with loud squeakers! He love to fetch, knows “bring it” and “drop it”. He can do this until his Foster Mom’s arm gives out from throwing – she isn’t such a good thrower either! Bixby is a good eater, and is slowing putting on weight, but he is still on the skinny side. He is a happy little boy who loves cuddling and giving kisses as much as he loves squeaking the toys. He settles down nicely and really enjoys getting attention, which we don’t think he has received in his prior life.
Bixby would do well in a home as an only dog, or perhaps another passive dog for companionship. He would also do well in a home where there is a stay-at-home parent as he cries at the door when FM leaves the house. He follows her everywhere, right on her heels ~ it’s like he doesn’t want to lose sight of her as he’s afraid she will go away for a long time, so sad. Bixby has had a dental, neutered and is microchipped and is ready to go to his forever home – soon! Bixby is almost leash-trained and is totally housetrained – he’s sooooo smart! This little boy is ready to be your loyal and cuddly companion for many years to come!
INITIAL BIO 06/01/2013: MEET BIXBY! He is 5 years old and weighs a skinny and malnourished 5 lbs – a healthier weight for him would be 6 ½ to 7 lbs. Bixby is being fostered in The Villages, FL.
Bixby was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him; he is on the timid side right now since he hasn’t received the care and attention he so greatly deserved. He was covered in fleas, shaved and his nails were very long when he came into UYR. He is getting along with the other dogs in the home so far and loves to play with toys. It was reported that he was abused by a family member, so he is very hand-shy and afraid to be picked up until he knows he can trust your touch; he will soon learn that human hands are made for loving, not hitting.
Bixby would do well in a home as an only dog, or perhaps another passive dog for companionship. He is not house-trained nor leash-trained, but his foster parents will work with him on this. He still needs to be updated on his vaccinations and neutered, and will then be ready for his forever home. He’s a sweet little boy who hasn’t had such a great life so far ~ NOTE: Because of his shy nature and small size, Bixby must go into an adult home only.
