Magic's Story...
"MAGIC" -- is an 18 m.o. purebred male Border Collie, white with small red merle patches and ice blue eyes. He is neutered, UTD on shots, heart worm negative & on preventative. He is cratetrained, housebroken & micro-chipped. Magic is in rescue because of wanderlust. Frequently left to his own devices, he got into trouble with local Animal Control. He loves people & children, cuddles and car rides. We are still learning how he is with dogs & cats and will know more soon. Magic had been taught nothing until he came into rescue. He is now responding to simple commands after a few weeks. He is eager to please, but has difficulty focusing. An obedience class will be a requirement of his adoption. Magic's new home MUST also have a securely fenced yard. You MUST first fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. As this process can take time, we recommend that you complete these first 2 steps BEFORE inquiring about a specific dog.For more information on Magic, or other dogs we have available for adoption, please see our web site

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Magic, a Stephentown Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Stephentown, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Stephentown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Stephentown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Stephentown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Stephentown paves the way for another one to be saved.
