Pearl's Story...
Pearl is being fostered in CT. Pearl (or Pearly Mae as she is called in her foster home) is one special senior! She is a 10 year old, 55# yellow (almost white) Lab mix. She was surrendered to a high kill shelter in Louisiana by an owner who could no longer care for her. The sweet pup caught the eye of a shelter volunteer and she was saved! She is now looking for a loving home thanks to the help of Bonnie Blue Rescue. Pearl loves to ride in the car, take long naps and go for leisurely walks outside. She is an excellent cuddle buddy and will snore next to you for hours while you are reading or watching TV. She is missing quite a few teeth (is mostly toothless in the front) but has no trouble eating crunchy dog food. Granny P is housetrained (with a doggie door) and crate trained although she is completely trustworthy uncrated. She sleeps though the night, won't chew your shoes or pee on your rug...just a few benefits of owning a "mature" pup!! Granny P is super with kids. She is good with most small dogs or puppies but seems to feel threatened by (and will pick fights with) dogs her own size or bigger. Granny P would probably be happiest as an only dog. She has no problem interacting with other dogs on walks or in public. While she is older, she definitely has LOTS of life left to live and LOTS of love left to give! She is a joy to have around...her tail never stops wagging and her toothless grin will melt your heart. Granny P is currently fostered in Louisiana, but free transport is available anywhere in the US!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pearl, a Richmond Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Richmond, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
